Welcome to the website of the East Anglian Orienteering Association (EAOA). If you are new to the sport, please take a look at our Introduction.

We act on behalf of the orienteering clubs in our region, in particular by:

• Operating a regional Junior Squad, to provide training and development for younger orienteers from clubs across the region.
• Organising Leagues and Championships for individual club members and clubs as a whole.
• Laying on orienteering events which require the resources of more than just one club.
• Appointing event controllers, who ensure that courses are well planned and safe, and that competitions are fair.
• Coordinating fixtures across and beyond the region, to avoid event date clashes.

Association officials are orienteers who are members of constituent clubs.

• The EA League webpage has been updated with scores after the 2nd event of 2022.
• EAOA hosted the British Middle Distance Champs at Rushmere Country Park near Milton Keynes on 6 March. Results.

COVID-19 Update

Orienteering lends itself to being a socially distanced activity, unlike many other sports. Clubs in East Anglia were able to resume organised events during late Summer and Autumn 2020. All events are run according to British Orienteering rules and a comprehensive risk assessment.

The Region

Clubs

In orienteering terms, East Anglia comprises the whole of Norfolk, Suffolk, Cambridgeshire and Bedfordshire, northern Buckinghamshire, southern Northamptonshire and most of Essex.

There are six open clubs (which anyone can join) in the region, as well as three closed clubs (whose membership is drawn from particular institutions). The approximate locations of the open clubs are shown on the map. Use the links on the clubs page to find out what's happening in your area.
